Yawning, I crawl under my blanket, wiggling around until I get comfortable. On the opposite side of the room, AJ is already in his bed. I can faintly distinguish the outline of his white blanket even through the darkness.
“Goodnight,” I say quietly, knowing he can’t be asleep yet. He didn’t come in here that much earlier than me.
“Goodnight, Kiseop,” he replies. I can hear that his head is turned away from me, facing the wall. Even with how unclear it is, I still think that his voice sounds pretty.
I’m lying on my back, the blanket covering my mouth. It’s quickly getting comfortable and warm underneath it, even with how cold it is outside. It’s been a long day today because the practicing wound up taking more time than we’d planned it to. It’s nice to get something done, yes, but in the end, all of us were tired and only thinking about heading home to relax. I let my arms slip outside of the blanket for a moment, stretching my muscles from toes to fingertips. They’re feeling a bit sore, but I hope it’ll be over in the morning. I don’t pay much attention to it; there’s something else that’s nagging me, something that won’t allow me to get the rest I need so much. I stay as quiet as I can for a little while, listening to AJ’s breath from across the room. It’s calm and quiet, barely audible, but that doesn’t stop me from smiling at the sound. Maybe he’s already asleep? I listen to it for a while, trying not to think about the fact that it’s probably not normal to listen to someone else’s breath like that.
